好萊塢韓裔化妝師

Rebekah Bak 是居住在溫哥華的韓裔化妝師。 她原先是在韓國開始了她的職業生涯，並一直在彩妝部門擔任主管職務。 她的作品曾出現在Sephora 絲芙蘭、Fashionista 和 The Kit 中。他的客戶包括了 Sony, Universal, 迪士尼, 華納兄弟, Lionsgate, Netflix, 現代汽車, Men's Health, New Balance, Lululemon 以及阿里巴巴。身為Freelancer 的Rebekah對於彩妝的熱情來自於學生時期；而現在的她已是許多好萊塢明星的指定化妝師。這次ABOOK 有機會邀請她分享在該領域工作的經驗。

When did you discover you wanted to be a makeup artist?
I was attending makeup school as a hobby when I was 19. I’ve always painted since a young age and wanted to try something new. One day the makeup school asked for volunteers to come out on a weekend and do some work with no compensation; I eagerly jumped on the opportunity, I was so excited. The following week, my teacher gave me an envelope with some cash in it, nothing crazy, but that changed my life. I had no idea at the time you could make a living from doing makeup. Haha I loved it so much it felt wrong to get paid for it. And that’s when I discovered I was not only obsessed with doing it, but I could also make a living from it.

When are you the most creative?
When I’m in the moment of it all. There's a certain rush you can get from the surrounding energy that’s different than when you’re preparing for it. I also feel very inspired whenever visiting Europe, visiting the museums always gives me a little creative spark.

What was it like being a personal MUA for Actors on set?
It’s great. I mean, if you’re getting requested by an actor to come work with them as a personal, you have a pretty good rapport with them, its nice.

What suggestions do you have for upcoming artists hoping to join the profession?
Show up on time, always. Work hard, have a good attitude, be friendly to everyone, don’t complain and just have fun.
